Overview:
In this assignment we had to pick and issue and find/create a biotechnical solution to it. Our group brainstormed and came up with four potential solutions to problems in the world. Our first idea was to stop zika virus, it involved catching and analyzing the mosquitoes. Our second idea is was a new way to genetically engineer crops. Our third idea was to make more biofuel and try to get ride of gasoline from everyday use. Our fourth idea was a machine that attaches to boats in clearlake. This attachment would filter algae out from the lake and collect it in a tank. After thinking which idea to use our group decided to combine our third and fourth ideas. We chose to collect the algae from clearlake and then use the algae to create biofuel.

conclusion:
I enjoyed this project because it feeled realistic. It was fun coming up with ideas on what problems we could solve. Getting feedback from the mentors is what really made this project so cool. I think because we had to ask advice from mentors, we were pushed harder and had a greater focus. We did not want to sound like idiots to the experts. Overall this was one of my favorite projects of the year.
